Happiness rarely comes alone

Studies show: Happy people share their joy and build greater well-being through social relationships.

Happiness, of course! (Albert Schweitzer)

A common prejudice is that happy people are selfish and only think about themselves and their own wellbeing. That's not true. Studies show that kindness leads to greater wellbeing. Social relationships are one of the greatest guarantors of happiness because happy people report highly satisfying relationships with their immediate environment. People who are helpful, value interpersonal relationships or make contributions to society feel the best.

This was best felt firsthand during the Corona pandemic lockdown. We are social beings, and when that component is taken away, we become unhappy.
